Distribution Michel Théorêt inc. (DMT) · Last updated: October 21, 2026
In short
- This site, site.dmtinc.ca, does not ask you for any personal information and sets no cookies.
- On this site, the Google map only appears if you ask for it.
- We do not sell your personal information.
- You can see the information we hold about you and have it corrected.
What this policy covers
It explains how Distribution Michel Théorêt inc. (DMT) handles and protects your personal information: on this site, in our online store www.dmtinc.ca, and when you call or write to us.
What this site collects
Nothing you type: it has no form, no account and no newsletter. To reach us, you call us or write to us (the “Contact form” link leads to our online store).
As with any website, the server receives your device's IP address, just long enough to send you the pages. To count visits, it keeps a log: your truncated IP address (its last part is erased before it is written), the page viewed, the date and time, your browser, the site you came from (its name only) and technical details of the request. This log is used only for visit statistics, is shared with no one and is deleted after 90 days at the latest. The server's protections (its firewall) may also record an IP address, for its security, and keep it only as long as this security requires. This site is hosted in Quebec, on an OVHcloud server located in Beauharnois.
Cookies and the Google map
This site sets no cookies. Its visit statistics are made on the server that hosts it: it uses no audience measurement tool that sends your information elsewhere (such as Google Analytics), no advertising, and no technology that can identify you, locate you or profile you, except the Google map if you display it.
In “Contact us”, the map of our address comes from Google Maps. Google is a United States company. The map only appears if you click “Show the map”: Google then receives your IP address and may read or set its own cookies, under its privacy policy. The “Directions in Google Maps” link opens Google's site.
The online store
In the www.dmtinc.ca store, our customers sign in with their customer account. This account contains the contact details of your business and its contact persons, your delivery addresses and your orders. Its contact form sends us what you enter in it: your name, your business, your contact details and your message.
The store is provided by k-eCommerce. It sets cookies that it needs to work: your language, your session and your cart. Some of its pages also display a Google map as soon as they open: Google then receives your IP address and may read or set its own cookies.
How we use your information
If you call or write to us, we use your contact details and your message to answer you. If you are a customer, we also use your account information to process, deliver and invoice your orders. We may also send you our offers and promotions by email; you can refuse them at any time, by phone or by email. We do not sell your personal information or lend it to anyone: only our suppliers, listed below, receive it, for the service they provide us.
Who has access to it
Our team has access to it, each person for their work with our customers.
We also entrust it to suppliers, only for the service they provide us:
- Gestion Onyxia, which hosts this site on its server in Quebec and prepares its visit statistics;
- k-eCommerce, which provides our online store (its servers are in Canada);
- the host of our email, whose servers are in Saskatchewan;
- our carriers, for your deliveries;
- our accountant;
- Google, a United States company, only if you display the map of our address.
Some of these suppliers therefore keep your information outside Quebec.
How long we keep it
We keep your information (your account, your orders and our exchanges) as long as you are a customer, then for up to seven years, for our accounting and tax records. This site's visit log (truncated IP addresses) is deleted after 90 days at the latest.
Then we destroy it securely: files are erased and paper is shredded.
How we protect it
Only the members of our team who need your information for their work have access to it. Your store account is protected by a password, and both this site and the store use an encrypted connection (HTTPS). Our suppliers receive only what they need for the service they provide to us.
If an incident occurs
If personal information is lost, or accessed or disclosed without authorization, we promptly take steps to reduce the risk and prevent it from happening again. We record every incident in a register. If it presents a risk of serious injury, we notify the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec and the persons concerned.
Your rights
You can ask DMT for:
- access to the personal information it holds about you, and a copy;
- its correction, if it is inaccurate, incomplete or equivocal;
- a copy of the computerized information you provided to it, in a structured, commonly used technological format, or its transfer to a person or body authorized by law to collect it, unless this raises serious practical difficulties;
- its deletion, if it is outdated or no longer justified, or if the law does not allow DMT to collect, communicate or keep it;
- the withdrawal of your consent to its use or communication.
Write to the person in charge: their contact details are below. We verify your identity before answering, and we answer within 30 days of receiving your request. If we refuse, or if we do not answer within that time, you can contact the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec within the following 30 days.
Complaints
If you believe we have not protected your information properly, tell any member of our team, by phone or by email. Your complaint goes to the person in charge, who answers you within 48 hours.
You can also file a complaint with the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec.
